Records from the War Department that one Abraham
Rideout served in the Revolutionary War as a private
in Capt. Merrill's Co., 18 Mass. Regiment, commanded
by Col. Samuel Brewer. He enlisted 19 June
1778 for nine months and was discharged 13 Mar. 1779.
His name appears on an undated list of men raised in
the county of Cumberland, State of Massachusetts ,
which shows he was procured from the town of Brunswick,
he was twenty years of age, five feet seven
inches tall and stature and of light complexion.
